Everybody knows about Bangkok and Phuket, while Koh Samui has taken a star turn as the latest luxury hotspot in Thailand. But what about something new? If you want to beat your friends to the Next Big Thing, let The Luxury Travel Agency guide your plans with three of our favourites:

1) The Golden Triangle. In the far north of Thailand, there’s a point at which the country’s borders meet those of neighbouring Laos and Myanmar – hence the “Triangle”. This is a land of thick jungle forests and winding rivers, and all the incredible wildlife that live therein. The biggest draw – both literally and figuratively – are, of course, the Asian elephants that call the region home. Several ultra-luxury camps, such as those operated by Four Seasons and Anantara, care for groups of elephants that were neglected or abused by their previous owners and provide incredible education and interaction opportunities for their guests. These camps will bring you back to the Golden Age of Exploration – and with the nearby city of Chiang Rai only an hour’s flight from Bangkok, it’s easier to visit than you think!

2) Krabi Province. Directly east of Phuket, on the mainland, lies the province of Krabi, which offers a much more “authentic” experience of Thai life and culture with far less of the mass tourism. The surrounding jungle gives way to pristine white beaches, with solitary limestone karst formations (think Ha Long Bay) dotted throughout the sea. Railay Beach, popular among rock climbers and those who know their way around, can only be accessed by boat, providing an exclusive experience. At properties such as the Ritz-Carlton Phulay Bay, guests can find a blissful haven from the bustle of the islands, and connect with themselves, each other, and the natural splendour of their surroundings.

3) Pai. Long a staple on the backpacking route, the town of Pai has begun to evolve into a destination with something for everyone. Located about 2 ½ hours by car north of Chiang Mai (which is, as Thailand’s northern hub, a must for any visitor), Pai is home to a young crowd; the street food is plentiful, the parties run late, and enjoying the breathtaking location is everyone’s priority. If you’re looking to mingle with other travelers from the world over, this is the spot to do it. With a profusion of hills, caves, and waterfalls, there are endless opportunities to explore. And when night comes, the brilliant starlight shining over seas of rice paddies provides a backdrop for dreams of new adventures.

Thailand, the “Land of Smiles”, is a must for any traveler, and The Luxury Travel Agency can elevate your journey from lovely to life-changing. We’ve been up and down the country, and we’re ready to share our knowledge with you!
