Aman Travel Advisor: Benefits, Advice and Better Booking Decisions
An Aman Travel Advisor is most useful before anything is booked, while a poor property choice, the wrong room category or an unworkable flight schedule can still be corrected. Aman’s reputation is powerful enough that travelers sometimes choose the brand first and examine access, layout, location and trip fit later.
An experienced Aman Travel Advisor should prevent that. The job is not simply to add breakfast and a hotel credit to a reservation. It is to tell you whether the Aman you are considering is right for this particular trip, identify the room or villa that makes sense, compare the available rates and offers, and deal with the practical details that are easy to miss online.
The Luxury Travel Agency can arrange a single Aman stay or build it into a more involved journey with private transfers, guides, villas, yachts, aviation and additional hotels. For a straightforward hotel-only reservation, The Luxury Travel Agency does not charge a planning fee.

What Does an Aman Travel Advisor Actually Change?
The most important difference is judgment. A booking engine can show availability. It cannot tell you that the larger accommodation is less conveniently located, that a remote resort requires a flight you have not yet considered, or that the Aman everyone recommends is not the best match for your family.
Aman properties share a recognizable design philosophy, but they do not deliver one standardized experience. Aman New York is a highly controlled urban retreat. Amangiri is built around the Utah desert. Amankora is not one hotel but a journey among five lodges in Bhutan. Amanpulo begins with the logistics of reaching a private island. Those differences affect how long you should stay, which category to book and what must be arranged before arrival.
Our Advisors focus on the decisions that have the greatest effect on the stay:
- Which Aman property best fits the purpose of the trip
- Whether the room, suite, pavilion, tent or villa is correctly configured for the travelers
- Which rate provides the best combination of value, flexibility and benefits
- How airport, boat, helicopter or overland transfers affect the flight schedule
- Which preferences and celebration details should be communicated before arrival
- Whether the Aman stay should stand alone or form part of a larger itinerary
Advisor Insight
Never reserve an entry category on the assumption that an upgrade will solve the problem. Upgrade priority can be valuable, but it is generally subject to availability. Book a category you would be satisfied to keep, then treat any upgrade as an added benefit.
Virtuoso Benefits at Participating Aman Properties
The Luxury Travel Agency does not claim a separate preferred-partner relationship with Aman. Instead, many Aman hotels and resorts participate in Virtuoso. Through our Virtuoso membership, eligible reservations at participating Aman properties may include additional amenities and VIP recognition. The exact package depends on the property, rate and dates, but commonly available benefits may include:
- Daily breakfast for two guests
- A hotel, resort, dining or spa credit
- Priority for a room or villa upgrade, subject to availability
- Early check-in and late checkout consideration, subject to availability
- A welcome amenity and recognition of important preferences or celebrations
We confirm whether the property participates in Virtuoso and identify the applicable benefits before you book. We do not present every Aman stay as though it comes with the same credit, the same breakfast arrangement or a guaranteed upgrade. Participation and amenities can vary, and some rates may not qualify.
Aman also publishes its own seasonal and property-specific offers. Some can be combined with Advisor amenities; others cannot. A complimentary night may be more valuable than a credit. A discounted prepaid rate may look attractive until its cancellation terms are compared with a flexible option. We review the whole offer rather than counting perks.

Amangiri in southern Utah is known for its dramatic desert setting, minimalist architecture and exceptional privacy.
Why Aman Is Harder to Book Well Than It Looks
Aman’s restraint is part of its appeal. The websites are beautiful, the room names are often simple and the properties appear effortless. The planning behind a successful stay is not always effortless.
The Right Property Is Not Always the Most Famous One
Amangiri may be the first Aman that comes to mind for a U.S. trip, but it is not automatically the right answer. Some travelers want long days of guided desert exploration. Others mainly want privacy, spa time and a striking setting. Families may need more separation and outdoor space than a couple. A traveler who dislikes isolation may admire the property and still be happier elsewhere.
The same applies across the portfolio. Amanzoe, Amanyara and Amanpulo can all work for a private warm-weather escape, but the travel time, beach experience, villa structure and surrounding destination are different. Choosing among them requires more than comparing photographs.
Room Size Does Not Tell the Whole Story
At Aman, category differences can involve view, privacy, orientation, pool design and distance from the main facilities. A larger villa can be ideal for a multigenerational family and inconvenient for a couple that wants to walk easily to dinner. A private pool may matter greatly in one climate and very little in another.
We ask how the travelers intend to use the property. That usually produces a better recommendation than starting with the largest available category.
Access Can Determine the Entire Itinerary
For remote Aman resorts, the transfer is not an afterthought. Flight arrival times, daylight, luggage limits, boat schedules and the availability of private aviation may determine whether the journey is comfortable or needlessly difficult.
This is where travelers often create a problem before they contact an Advisor: they purchase international or domestic flights first, then discover that the resort transfer does not work cleanly. The hotel reservation may be refundable. The air ticket may not be.
Good to Know
Confirm the full arrival plan before buying nonrefundable flights to a remote Aman. A connection that appears generous on paper may not account for immigration, baggage collection, a terminal change or the final resort transfer.

Amanpuri, Aman’s flagship resort in Phuket, combines a secluded peninsula setting with traditional Thai architecture and views of the Andaman Sea.
Three Aman Booking Mistakes to Avoid
An Aman Travel Advisor should help you avoid three common mistakes before a reservation is confirmed.
1. Booking the Brand Instead of the Trip
Aman is not the correct hotel for every traveler or every destination. Some properties are deliberately quiet, isolated and low-key. That is the point, but it can disappoint someone expecting a lively resort, extensive nightlife or a highly structured children’s program. An honest Advisor should be willing to recommend a different hotel when it fits better.
2. Comparing Only the Nightly Rate
The lowest rate is not always the least expensive decision. Breakfast, transfers, credits, a complimentary night and cancellation flexibility can materially change the total value. The reverse is also true: additional amenities do not justify paying for a rate structure you do not need.
3. Trying to Fit Too Much Around the Stay
Aman works best when there is time to use the property. Adding a resort for two nights simply because it is famous may create more packing and transfer time than enjoyment. In Bhutan, for example, the point of Amankora is the journey among its lodges, not checking one property off a list. In Japan, the official Aman Japan Journey links Tokyo, Kyoto and Amanemu, but the pacing still needs to fit the traveler’s interests and overall trip length.

Booking Aman Directly or Through an Advisor
Booking directly is reasonable when you know the property, understand the category, have confirmed the transfers and are comfortable managing the reservation yourself. The issue is not that direct booking is inherently wrong. At a participating Aman property, however, an eligible Virtuoso reservation booked through The Luxury Travel Agency may provide added amenities and personal support without requiring the client to give up an otherwise comparable public rate.
When you book through The Luxury Travel Agency, we review the public rates and any eligible Virtuoso options available for your stay. Before confirmation, we explain the rate, deposit, cancellation terms, included amenities and which requests remain unconfirmed. After booking, we communicate the relevant guest information to the property and remain available when plans change or hotel follow-up is needed.
This matters most for villas, multiple rooms, high-season travel, milestone celebrations, difficult access and multi-stop itineraries. It matters less when the traveler already knows exactly what to book and needs nothing beyond the room. We handle both, but we do not pretend they require the same amount of work.

Frequently Asked Questions About Booking With an Aman Travel Advisor
Is it more expensive to book Aman through a Travel Advisor?
Not necessarily. For many eligible public rates, the price and cancellation terms may be the same as booking directly while the Advisor reservation includes additional amenities. We compare the available options rather than claiming that every rate is identical.
Does The Luxury Travel Agency charge a fee to book an Aman hotel?
For a straightforward hotel-only reservation, The Luxury Travel Agency does not charge a planning fee. Our Consultation, Planning & Travel Management Fee applies when the request becomes a complex custom itinerary.
Are Aman upgrades guaranteed?
No. Upgrade priority is generally subject to availability unless a particular offer explicitly confirms an upgrade at the time of booking. Reserve a category you will be happy to keep.
Can Advisor benefits be added to an Aman reservation I already booked?
Usually not by simply attaching an Advisor to the existing reservation. The booking may need to be canceled and rebooked under an eligible rate, subject to current availability, pricing and the cancellation terms of the original reservation. Contact us before making any changes.
Can you book Aman villas and multibedroom accommodations?
Yes, subject to availability and the property’s rules. We review bedroom configuration, maximum occupancy, included services, location, privacy, deposit requirements and cancellation exposure before confirmation.
How far in advance should I book Aman?
There is no single answer. Festive dates, school holidays, peak ski periods, limited villas and popular room categories can sell well in advance. Flexible dates help, but flexibility does not replace early planning when the accommodation itself is limited.
Speak With an Aman Travel Advisor
